I am from Barcelona and I am a psychologist, psychotherapist counsellor, and psychotherapist-in-training specialising in Transactional Analysis

Life somehow led me into psychology in a very unconscious way. I never imagined I’d end up working as a therapist abroad, but from the moment I started my psychology degree, I was hooked: I wanted to understand more about people, their inner processes, behaviours, and interactions.

I studied psychology at the University of Barcelona, spending those years exploring which areas sparked my interest, what kind of work I wanted, and the path I wanted to follow.

My vision of therapy has evolved significantly over the years with my training. Lately, I’ve grown particularly interested in deepening my knowledge of body work and psychoanalysis.

My experience

I believed early support has a deeper long-term impact, which shaped my choice of university placement at a Child Mental Health Centre. That internship revealed the vital role of family and systems, leading me to pursue a Master’s in Systemic Therapy.

Later, through my evolving sense of therapy, I discovered Transactional Analysis and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. Both approaches resonated deeply with their shared emphasis on self-acceptance. I see therapeutic approaches as puzzle pieces that together shape my meaning of therapy and the way I practice.

My role as a therapist

My work has a relational focus, which means our therapeutic relationship becomes a small mirror of your wider relational world, opening up opportunities to notice patterns, bring them into awareness, and gently begin to transform them.

I am drawn to cultures, languages, and the processes of migration and change. I believe our culture and language shape how we see the world and relate to it. Other areas of interest are supporting people with grief,  perfectionism, relationships (with self and others), and attachment.

I am from Gijón -Spain-, and psychologist trained in Gestalt and Systemic psychotherapy.

My interest in human behaviour began with the books I devoured as a child. I’ve always had a sensitivity to others’ pain and an intuition that draws people to share their feelings with me. Without direct exposure to psychology, I took a few detours before realising this was the field that matched my vocation—but eventually, we found each other.

I earned my degree at the Complutense University of Madrid. I then spent several years in research, eager to advance the recognition and appreciation of psychology. I’ve always been driven to understand the mind, human behaviour, and how it all weaves together with our emotions and life paths.

My experience

I completed my internship with SAMUR’s psychosocial emergency team. It was an incredibly enriching experience where I witnessed human resilience firsthand and tested myself in high-pressure situations. It also offered unique insights into team dynamics and how to support each other while processing the critical, painful moments we encountered.

At the same time, I pursued an extracurricular internship in neuroscience research, which deepened my grasp of methodology and scientific inquiry. Later on, I explored Gestalt and Systemic psychotherapy, which resonate deeply with my view of human beings in their context—and with the realities of joy and suffering in life.

My role as a Psychologist

In 2016, I moved to Edinburgh to pursue a PhD in language and cognitive health. I gained deep knowledge in the field—and even more about myself. Today, I work in the clinical psychology department at the University of Edinburgh, learning every day from students and colleagues.

As a psychologist and therapist, I aim to co-create a safe space where you feel confident enough to connect with your dreams, choose your path, and take the first steps. I particularly welcome those exploring alternative relationship structures like non-monogamy, as well as people from the LGBTIQA+ community, to find understanding and expression in my practice.

I am a General Health Psychologist.. I was born in Madrid, but I’ve always felt like a citizen of the world.

From a very young age, I loved helping people—reflecting, listening to their stories, and exploring how the mind works. My passion for psychology was there long before I realised it, though it wasn’t until I was 16 that I knew I wanted to make it my profession.

I studied psychology at Rey Juan Carlos University, where I explored different approaches to find what resonated most with me and the areas that truly interested me. I see psychology as a fascinating science full of possibilities—one that helps us understand ourselves better and live with greater freedom.

My experience

After spending a summer in Edinburgh, I returned to Madrid to pursue a master’s in General Health Psychology, where I interned at a Child and Adolescent Mental Health Centre. It was an incredibly rewarding experience that ignited my interest in clinical work and family systems—which is why I also began collaborating with a foundation supporting at-risk children and adolescents during the COVID lockdown.

This experience helped me realise that my calm nature, empathy, and resilience could truly help people through crises. So I moved to Edinburgh and joined an organisation providing emotional support and emergency care for those with severe mental health challenges and physical disabilities. It was a big challenge that built my professional confidence and fuelled my drive to keep working and training in what I love.

My role as a Psychologist

My vision of human beings as whole persons shaped by their interactions with biological, political, and social contexts. That’s why I believe therapy must take an integrative approach—considering the impact of these systems while tailoring sessions to each individual’s unique circumstances.

My role as a psychologist is to create a safe, accepting space where you can freely explore your thoughts, emotions, and behaviours with compassion and without judgement. My aim is to support you in making sense of your story, rediscovering your inner resources, and gaining the tools you need for meaningful change and personal growth.

Patxi Psicología en Edimburgo

Patxi

I am Chilean and a clinical psychologist. For as long as I can remember, I have been interested in literature, music, photography, and all forms of human expression. Psychology, in that sense, was a discovery I made as an adult, when I understood that my life purpose was to give space to those expressions and create opportunities for connection around them. Dialogue and listening; creativity, curiosity, and hope have been fundamental elements of this professional path that I decided to embark on 10 years ago.

I deeply believe that psychology is a powerful tool for self-discovery. Through therapy, we can gradually gain the freedom necessary to recognise and differentiate ourselves from the patterns of thought and behaviour that we have acquired throughout our personal history. This process of self-exploration and personal growth can be transformative.

My experience

I studied at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile, where I earned both my undergraduate and master’s degrees in clinical psychology, focusing on mindfulness and the professional experiences of therapists who practise it. I completed my internship at a day hospital, where I witnessed firsthand how community and a sense of belonging can rehabilitate even the most severe psychiatric cases.

I worked with university students, teaching classes, facilitating workshops and support groups, and providing counselling on issues such as anxiety, stress, and healthy sleep. Today, I maintain a private practice in Edinburgh while continuing to offer workshops and deliver talks on key mental health topics.

My role as a Psychologist

My therapeutic approach is based on systemic orientation, which means that I consider people as part of larger systems, such as families and relationships, that influence their emotional well-being.

My specialisation centres on helping people understand and manage anxiety, stress, and sleep issues. These are everyday challenges in modern life, and my aim is to equip you with practical tools to overcome them and lead a more balanced, fulfilling life.

Beatriz Psicóloga en Edimburgo

Beatriz

It is a joy to be hidden and a disaster not to be found.”

- D.W. Winnicott-

Our therapeutic relationship with you is collaborative and has a relational focus. We are committed to working toward a shared goal, in which you have an active role in the process.

Not all of the work happens in the session. Very often, what emerges in the therapeutic space continues to unfold outside, in between sessions. Everything that keeps happening within you during those intervals is also part of the process.

From the very first session, we assess your situation and define therapeutic goals together. Throughout the process, we will return to these goals to review progress and adjust them or set new ones whenever needed.

We understand that every process is unique. Because of this, we take extra care to adjust our strategy to your needs, life story, and present life moment to make sure we adjust to your own speed.
